Political theology matters.
Using hearts, arts, and smarts to achieve social justice and to foster a compassionate society living in peace.
The Rev. Dr. Marcia Ledford, Esquire is a practical theologian and Episcopal priest, and native to her beloved Detroit. Her dissertation, Christian Progressive Political Theology: Acting on the Word for Immigration Reform, explores the essential nature of progressive public/political Christian Theology. Ledford has been a civil rights attorney for over 30 years, including as an ACLU co-operating attorney on constitutional matters, prior to her ordination. She has joined her two loves, the Gospel and the Constitution, to teach about the ways progressive Christians and charities can exercise their First Amendment guarantees by advocating for more compassionate, just solutions to our social crises.

Before Marcia’s presentation about political theology, I felt paralyzed about what to do, and now I feel energized.
I loved this workshop. Marcia clears ups so much of the confusion around this important matter of how we speak to vital political issues as the Church. Her teaching style and passion have encouraged me and stayed with me.
